The Greater Venice Area (Veneto Region) is one of the most important Area in Italy of indutrial production of

clothing, leather, footwear, eyewear.

Over 10000 Industrial and Craft Enterprises are active here, 25% of which are Limited companies.

In 2012, the value of exports of this Area was over 11 billion euros, while the positive value of the Balance of Trade was almost 4.2 billion euros.

Some of the world fashion top level brands originate in this area, among which Valentino, Bottega Veneta, Benetton, Stefanel, Moncler, Cerruti 1881, Marina Yachting, Geox, Marzotto, Diesel and many others, as well as hundreds of second level brands.

Gold and silver

The gold and silver district of Vicenza has about 1,000 companies employing 10,600 workers.

The local production is mainly represented by business realities of small to medium and small size, strong craft and family, often involved in the full cycle of processing; 80% of the companies is concentrated in the area of the City of Vicenza, while the others are located in the towns of Trissino and Bassano.

Furniture

Wood and Furniture is one of the most common manufacturing sectors in the Area, with more than 12,000 companies and more than 72000 employees.

"Murano" glass

"Murano" is one of the many islands composing the ancient city of Venice.

Murano’s reputation as a center for glassmaking was born when the Venetian Republic. Fearing fire and the destruction of the city’s mostly wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. Murano glass is still associated with Venetian glass.

Robotics and Mechatronics

This is a sector which, on one hand, overlaps with that of machine tools or machinery for manufacturing and civil automation, and, on the other, is in some aspects related to robotics. However, it is also a sector which cuts across various fields of industry.

Mechatronics in fact covers products ranging from electric gates to self-moving arms in industrial plants, from any automatic device used in everyday life to entire production cycles of extreme complexity.

ICT industry

The Industry of Information and Communication Technology is well-established in the Greater Venice Area, with more than 34,000 employees and more than 8000 active companies, it represents almost the 9% of the national amount.

Many major companies have settled here their data center, among which that one of the insurance group "Generali" and that one of "Infocamere", the service company of all the chambers of commerce and italian national registry of companies.

the entrenchment of this sector resulted in the structuring and the creation of many university faculties of computer science, computer engineering and electronics, for a total of more than 600 graduates every year.

Also some private business and venture incubators, focused on ICT, were born in this Area; two of them, H-Farm and M31 have strong international reputation.

Rubber and Plastics cluster

The discrict is "multipolar" because its companies develop a great variety of products and productive tipologies and also they are concentrated in various areas. However they are connected by deep collaborative relationships and most of them are located between the City of Treviso and the City of Vicenza.

Chemistry and Green Chemistry

In Veneto Region, the Chemical Industry played a relevant role, since the beginning of the 20th century; in 1937-1940 the number of employees of the Region was over 4,3%, much higher than the national average.

The production was distributed throughout the Region, but in the first half of century, the building of the Chemical and Petrochemical Complex of Marghera, the new industrial port of Venice, boosted the production.

On the beginning of the '60, the Chemical and Petrochemical Complex of Marghera reached the maximum number of emplyees, over 15000 for over 40 local units.

Large and small Shipyards

Shipbuilding is the ancestral tradition of Venice, it was responsible for the bulk of Venice Republic's naval power during its eleven centuries of history, untill the 18th Century, and it is, still now, an important part of the economy of the City.

During the 12th century, the Republic of Venice started the construction of the Arsenal, a complex of state-owned shipyards and armories clustered together, it became the largest industrial complex in Europe prior to the Industrial Revolution, spanning an area of about fifteen percent of the City.
